AAZV 32nd Annual Zoo & Wildlife Pathology Workshop 2025

August 24 @ 8:00 am 5:00 pm CDT

This all day, in person workshop will be held on Sunday, 24 August 2025 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central time,in association with the annual meeting of the American Association of Zoo Veterinarians in Kansas City, Mo, USA.

This eight-hour workshop brings together zoo veterinarians and pathologists for a full day of discussion of interesting cases in zoo and wildlife pathology. This year’s keynote lecture will be by the noted clinician and wildlife cancer expert, Dr. Tara Harrison, professor at North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine.  Her keynote presentation is titled “Collaborating to Conquer Cancer.” Following the keynote lecture, veterinarians from around the world will present cases throughout an interactive all-day session with an emphasis on neoplasia of zoo, aquarium, and wildlife species.

Got a tumor with an interesting story behind it? Calling for cases that shed light on how cancer impacts our zoo animals and wildlife. As usual we will consider any zoo or wildlife case submissions, even if they do not fit the theme. If you wish to present a case, please email Dr. Rachel Burns (reburns@sdzwa.org) with a brief description (1-2 sentences) of the case by 1 June 2025. Those applicants with chosen cases will be notified by email by the following week.
