We are proud to announce that Dr. Bruce Williams, the Foundation’s Treasurer and longtime tireless supporter, has been named a Distinguished Member of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists. The nomination was organized and presented to ACVP by Dr. Corrie Brown and supported by many outstanding letters of support from Bruce’s colleagues. In the letter announcing the award, ACVP stated about Bruce: “You have rendered exceptionally distinguished service to the College and contributed in an exemplary manner to veterinary pathology and pathology education. Your service through the Davis-Thompson Foundation is particularly appreciated. You are very deserving of this designation.”
Bruce has worked tirelessly for many years for the Davis-Thompson Foundation and during this time, he has been the driving force behind the organization of workshops, seminars, and training courses in Veterinary Pathology around the world. His outstanding leadership and organizational skills have been fundamental in solidifying the Foundation’s reputation as the number one organization promoting the teaching of veterinary pathology in the world. Under his direction, the Foundation has gone from strength to strength with each passing year and, in these very difficult
times, remained stronger than ever. As the realities of COVID hit, Bruce was swift to recognize not only the necessity but also the great potential of online delivery. The Foundation is now able to offer an enormous number of webinars and courses worldwide, and reach a substantially increased audience as a consequence of the efforts of Bruce as well as Paco, Jey, and our many dedicated volunteers. Several of these webinars are co-sponsored by the ACVP. If you know Bruce at all, you will know that he works unremittingly and is available for the teaching of veterinary pathology 24/7. Pathologists, young and old, look to him as a model of what hard work, a good heart and a strong vision for the future can achieve.
The award will be presented to Bruce at an Awards and Recognition Ceremony during the 2021 ACVP Annual Meeting occurring October 30-November 2 on a virtual platform. We hope to “see” many of you supporting Bruce the day of the ceremony. Congratulations Bruce!!!
