Veterinary Pathology Workshop, Rwanda.

The Davis-Thompson Foundation, Global Health Pathology Network, Gorilla Doctors and University of Rwanda will hold an incredible 2-days workshop in veterinary pathology with necropsy practices and diagnostics of typical diseases encountered in Rwanda.

Thursday June 23, 2022
8:30 am – 10:00 am: Pathology and Necropsy overview (goals, terms, methods, examples of gross lesions and description. Participants will receive pre-class learning material by email.
10:00 am – 12:00 pm: Practical experience- Pig and goat necropsies
12:00 am – 1:00 pm: Lunch
1:00 pm – 1:45 pm: Pig diagnostic session (pig diseases common to Rwanda)
Break 15 minutes
2:00 pm – 2:50 pm: Goat diagnostic session (goat diseases common to Rwanda)
Break 10 minutes
3:00 pm – 4:00 pm: he identification of metazoans in tissue (Dr. Sarah Poynton)
Break 10 minutes
4:10 pm – 5:15 pm: Zoonoses diagnostic session (zoonoses in wildlife and domestic animals)
Friday June 24, 2022
8:30 am – 9:30 am: Review of learning points from previous day
9:30 am – 11:30 am: Practical experience- Poultry Necropsy
11:30 am- 12:30 pm: Lunch
12:30 pm to 2:00 pm: Poultry diagnostic session (poultry diseases common to Rwanda)
