Dr. Bruce Williams receives UGA Dean’s Distinguished Service Award 2022

Dr. Williams is a graduate of University of Georgia in the DVM class of 1985. He is the senior pathologist of the Department of Pathology at the Army’s Joint Pathology Center where he has served since 1989. He is also a prior President and Chief Executive Officer of the Davis-Thompson Foundation for the Advancement of Pathology – the largest not-for-profit organization in veterinary pathology in the world, and still serves as its Chief Financial Officer.

In the last 30 years, he has not only trained over 150 pathology residents for the Department of Defense, but his outreach has reached thousands of other pathology trainees around the world. He has directed and lectured at over 100 pathology courses, given numerous lectures at schools on six continents, and published numerous book chapters and peer-reviewed articles on the pathology of all species of animals. His online lectures on veterinary pathology have garnered millions of views and considered required watching for pathology trainees around the world. He is especially proud of his 40+ years in military service in uniform and as a civilian, and has no plans on ever retiring.
